Band Permission Form Instrumental Rental & Purchase Information
Parent Information Letter:
Dear Parent/Guardian,
I, Mr. Martinez, am overseeing the after-school Band at Eagleside Elementary. The
purpose of Band is to provide the opportunity for 4th and 5th-grade
students to learn a musical instrument in a fun and safe environment that they can play through middle
school, high school, college, and their entire lives. There is no experience needed, we
all start at the very beginning! We will learn the notes on the staff, how to play the
instrument correctly to get a good sound and teach all the fingerings.
As a member, he/she will be expected to attend after-school rehearsals with all their
materials. They will need to have their instrument, their book, a pencil, and a wonderful
attitude. The instruments that are taught will be Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Baritone, and
Percussion (bells and some snare drum and bass drum). The book that every student
will need is called “ Traditions of Excellence: Book 1.”
There will be a special Band Evening where students will have the ability to try out and
rent the instruments, and to purchase the book. The company that will be renting out
the instruments is called “Graner Music.” The Band Evening will be on Tuesday,
October 12th from 4:30 p.m to 6:00 p.m. You can come at any time during this period
and leave when you are finished.
If by chance you cannot attend this night, there are still many options to rent an
instrument. You may also rent one at a different location. Meeker music, located on
85/87 next two Wal-Mart, is another great location to rent an instrument.
Band will be held after school on Mondays from 2:30 pm – 3:25 pm The first day of
band will be Monday, October 18th. There is no after-school transportation for this club;
you will need to arrange a ride or permission to walk home after school. If you have any
questions, please let us know by calling the school at 719-382-1520 or e-mailing me,
Mr. Martinez, directly at lorenmartinez@ffc8.org
Musically yours,
Mr. Martinez
Elementary Music
Cowboy Choir
Parent Information Letter:
Dear Parents,
One of the goals of the Eagleside Elementary Cowboy Choir is to give students another outlet for
musical expression and performance. This after school activity will give musically driven and
talented students the ability to perform music of different cultures, languages, and style all while
having fun with their peers. The choir will be performing for school functions and activities,
community events, and special concerts for Eagleside families and friends.
The Cowboy Choir is open to 3rd , 4th , and 5th grade students. We rehearse every Wednesday
after school from 2:30 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. in the music room. Because we only meet once a
week, it will be very important that they attend every rehearsal. If your child has to miss
rehearsal, please let me know through email or phone message or it will be marked as unexcused.
If your child has numerous unexcused absences, I will make a phone call to find the best solution
for your child to either remain in choir or be removed from choir. The first day of rehearsal will
be January 18th, 2023 from 2:30 pm to 3:25 p.m.
It is important to remember that choir will be based on eligibility and school PRIDE behavior. .
If your child is struggling academically, I will recommend that he or she not attend rehearsals
until they are able to make adequate academic progress. Also, if a student is not attending
rehearsal or is not showing PRIDE behavior during school or rehearsals, they may be removed
from choir.
In order to ensure your child’s safety and to participate in choir, please fill out the information on
the back of this page and return it to me by Friday, January 13 th , 2023. The Eagleside staff
wants to make sure your child has the proper arrangements to get home after rehearsal. I ask that
you also communicate with me or the school via email or phone message if there are changes in
transportation arrangements.
If there is no school that day, there will be no rehearsal. If rehearsal is canceled I will let you
know as quickly as possible so you can make arrangements.
You may print out this bottom form and return it to me, you can fill out the link attached, or you
can get a paper copy in the music room.
Thanks again and I look forward to creating a wonderful choir program for your child!
